Bird Flu Fears

From the AP:

Scientists say they’ve found a reason bird flu isn’t spreading easily from person to person: The virus concentrates itself too deep in the respiratory tract to be spewed out by coughing and sneezing.

But the virus could change that behavior by genetic mutation, taking a step toward unleashing a worldwide outbreak of lethal flu.

Experts said the new finding doesn’t indicate how likely such a pandemic is. The virus may also need other mutations to take off in the human population, they said. Still, the work suggests a particular sign to watch for in new virus samples to help gauge the danger to humans.

Anti-War broken record

Five years later after the War on Terror’s initiation, we’re still hearing the same tired accusations against it. Great job guys! You’ve really helped change policy with your stunning intellectual arguments (*sarcasm).

Notorious White House press reporter Helen Thomas proffered a typically balanced, fair question: “All of the reasons you gave for going to war have been proven wrong, so what I want to know is—why did you really want to go to war?”

He called Helen “flat wrong” about four times—”with all due respect” of course. He had to shush her four times to finish his answer. (Hugh Hewitt has more).

Jack Cafferty of course agreed with this “real reason” garbage and asked viewers to e-mail him the truth. Helen Thomas went on to a fluff interview on CNN.
